We wanted to give you an update on what we are doing over here at the Nation Headquarters. We made a big decision to change our format this year and go podcast. There are many reasons for this and not one, and we repeat, not one had to do with sponsorship.

Live web broadcasting is dead. Unless you have a fanbase like the four major sports the costs do not equal the crowd. This isn’t to say that the Nation’ isn’t alive because it very much is…..on podcast. When we added the ability to download separate interviews to the mp3/iPod earlier this year we had a huge interest spike. Podcasting is a fraction of the cost of live broadcasting, offers the ability to be flexible with our guests (not having to schedule them on a certain night), and utilizes some of the hottest technology on the web.

We are moving into the future and the future is podcasting.

So what is next? We are re-developing our site to make it more accessible and have more content. With this in mind we are taking some time to “do it right.” See the attached sketch of the concept we are going after. It is a significant investment of time, money, and effort so we hope you appreciate it. Until then….stay tuned for more news soon!

Hosted by Dave Seay and others, DIRT NATION™ Live! has been the “go-to” for all of the hot topics in dirt racing across the states for the last four years…and it will continue to be.

Dirt Nation will shift focus from the live format and continue to build upon the popular “On Demand” podcast form of broadcasting starting August 9, 2008, on www.dirtnation.net.

“It was a shift we needed to make,” stated lead host Dave Seay. “The changing environment for listening habits, the advent of this new technology, the schedules for the drivers and ourselves are the main reasons why we looked into a format change. While live internet radio has a purpose, it was made well aware to us based on the popularity of our ‘On Demand’ podcasts that we needed to put more time, energy, and resources into our website and the content we provide.”

On August 9th, www.dirtnation.net will debut new, “On Demand” interviews in different formats (in-depth interviews, trackside interviews, etc.), additional functionality for the site visitors, and almost daily updated content.

“We hope to have 20 to 30 interviews added a week,” added Seay. “We will be adding some talent from different segments of the dirt racing world to contribute interviews and hope to cover a lot more ground. I want to put a premium on local weekly racing in addition to the major sanctioning bodies. We hope this effort will cover the broad spectrum of drivers, tracks, series, and promoters that need some value added promotion.”
